Incantato Tours proudly presents the San Marino Chamber Choir at Teatro di Rieti on Friday, April 8 at 9 PM

The San Marino Chamber Choir will perform at Teatro di Rieti on Friday, April 8 at 9:00 PM. The current structure of the theatre dates back to December of 1883 but was not officially inaugurated until September 20, 1893, featuring productions of Goethe’s Faust and Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. The theater, named for the Roman Emperor Vespasian, required ten years of construction under the direction of Milanese architect Achille Sfondrini. The theater underwent complete restoration from 2005 through 2009. A grand re-opening celebration commenced on January 10, 2009 featuring conductor Marcello Rota, and soloists Karina Grigoryan, Jessica Pratt, Anna Gorayacheva, and Roman Burdenko. The Secretary to the Prime Minister as well as Senator Franco Marini were in attendance. The restoration efforts totaled more than 3.3 million Euro. The reopening of the theater also fostered the formation of the Flavius Vespasian Foundation, aiming to promote international artistry and music. The Rieti Theatre also annually hosts the Rieti Dance Festival, the International Competition for the New Opera Voices of Mattia Battistini, and the National Competition for Young Actors. The theatre is well known for its excellent acoustics, a characteristic that earned the structure the very first National Award for the Acoustics. In referring to the acoustics, Professor Bruno Cagli, president of the National Academy of Saint Cecilia, once called the theatre “the world’s best in that respect”. Incantato Tours, al Vespasiano si chiude con il San Marino Chamber Choir   Chamber Choir della San Marino High School       dalla Redazione mercoledì 6 aprile 2011 Venerdì 8 aprile alle ore 21 al Teatro Flavio Vespasiano termina il ciclo di spettacoli che hanno visto la città di Rieti inserita per la prima volta nel programma del tour operator americano Incantato Tours. La chiusura è prestigiosa, infatti ad esibirsi sarà il Chamber Choir della San Marino High School.  Il concerto dal titolo “Musica Divina : tra antico e nuovo mondo” comprende brani di Bach, Monteverdi e Purcell, insieme a compositori più moderni del continente americano. Il coro, proveniente dalla cittadina di San Marino nella contea di Los Angeles, è composto in gran parte da studenti di origine asiatica, infatti San Marino ha una popolazione composta al 40% da cittadini provenienti dall’Asia, ed è uno dei più conosciuti e prestigiosi degli Stati Uniti d’America.  Proseguono anche i gemellaggi previsti dal programma, ed infatti dopo il Liceo Classico Varrone gemellato con La Cañada High School ed il Liceo Pedagogico “Elena Principessa di Napoli” gemellato con il liceo di San Juan de Capistrano, questa volta è il turno del Liceo Scientifico Jucci che ospiterà nella mattinata di venerdi gli studenti californiani della San Marino High School. Sandra Weinacht, titolare di Incantato Tours ha confermato che l’esperimento iniziato quest’anno prevede per il 2012 il passaggio a Rieti di numerosi gruppi di studenti americani, che soggiorneranno nella nostra città anche in occasione di eventi culturali.  L’organizzazione sarà della Wealbiz di Diego Di Paolo. L’Assessore alla Cultura Gianfranco Formichetti ha auspicato il consolidamento dell’iniziativa nella speranza che il soggiorno a Rieti dei gruppi l’anno venturo permetta agli studenti di visitare le eccellenze culturali e turistiche della città. San Marino Chamber Choir presents exclusive highlight concert at Sala dei Baroni inside Castel Nuovo in Naples on Wednesday, April 6 at 8 PM

What an amazing performance venue for the San Marino Chamber Choir 2011 Performance Tour as part of their 2011 Italy Incantato Performance Tour. On Wednesday, April 6, at 8 pm, the singers from San Marino California under the direction of Howard Cheung present a highlight concert at Sala dei Baroni inside Castel Nuovo (commonly known as Maschio Angioino), a very old and beautiful castle in the city of Naples. This imposing castle, surrounded by deep moats, was built in 1282 by Pierre de Chaulnes and Pierre d'Angincourt, the architects of Charles I of Anjou. It was modeled on the castle at Angers. A remarkable triumphal arc embellishes the entrances on the town side. This masterpiece bearing sculptures to the glory of the House of Aragon, was built to designs by Francesco Laurana in 1467. Access to the Sala dei Baroni is via the staircase in the inner courtyard (at the far end on the left).
This special concert is supported by the City of Naples and several local partners.

Great honor for the San Marino Chamber Choir: The City of Naples has sent an official invitation to the singers for their performance at Sala dei Baroni inside Castel Nuovo (commonly known as Maschio Angioino), an old and beautiful castle in the city of Naples. The concert takes place on Wednesday, April 6 at 8 PM.

San Marino Chamber Choir sings today at the stunning Chiesa di San Francesco in Maiori

Incantato Tours proudly presents the San Marino Chamber Choir in concert at Chiesa di San Francesco in Maiori at 8 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.

The beautiful Chiesa di San Francesco was constructed in 1405. It is located between the convent and the Cove of the Announced one (Grotta dell'Annunziata) in Maiori. The church has a rough history: In 1435 it was destroyed by the army of Muhammad II (Turkey) and rebuilt one year later by Saint Bernardino from Siena. A sea storm hit the Chiesa di San Francesco hard in 1440. It was destroyed and in 1517 reconstructed on the oriental side of the convent. But the work was interrupted again by a Turkish invasion. In 1590 the construction was finally completed. Last but not least there were several constructive modifications after two seas storm in 1631 and 1674. The church is famed world-wide for the miracle of the springing water in the convent. Please click here to go the picture's origin.

San Marino Chamber Choir sings at Monte Cassino Abbey on Thursday, April 7 at 3:00 PM

In addition to touring the facility, the San Marino Chamber Choir from San Marino High School in Los Angeles, California, will also perform a recital at the Monte Cassino Abbey on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 3:00 PM.

Monte Cassino is a rocky mountain approximately 80 miles southeast of Rome. Saint Benedict of Nursia established his first monastery here, the source and foundation of the Benedictine Order, in 529. The monastery stands as one of the few territorial abbeys remaining within the Catholic Church.

According the Gregory the Great’s biography of Saint Benedict, the monastery was constructed on an older pagan sight, a temple of Apollo that originally crowned the hill. The biography claims that Benedict’s first act was to smash the sculpture of Apollo and destroy the pagan altar. He then reused the temple, dedicating it to Saint Martin, and built a new chapel which he dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Once established at Monte Cassino, Benedict never left. There he penned the Benedictine Rule which ultimately became the founding principle of western monasticism. Monte Cassino became the model for future Benedictine developments throughout the world.

Unfortunately the Abbey has fallen target to numerous military insurgencies throughout the years, including the infamous 1944 Battle of Monte Cassino. On February 15, 1944, the Abbey was almost completely destroyed by Allied air-raids after being mistakenly identified as a German stronghold. In fact, the Abbey was being used as a refuge for women and children attempting to shield themselves from the war. The Abbey was rebuilt after the war, financed by the Italian State, and was reconsecrated by Pope Paul VI in 1964.

The San Marino Chamber Choir visits the Music Conservatory of Naples on Thursday, April 7, 10:00 AM

On Thursday, April 7 the San Marino Chamber Choir visits the Music Conservatory of Naples and recites. The conservatory and adjacent church are today part of the old San Pietro a Majella monastic complex, built at the end of the 13th century and dedicated to the monk Pietro da Morone, who became Pope Celestine V in 1294. The conservatory houses an impressive library of manuscripts pertaining to the lives and musical production of composers who lived and worked in Naples, among whom are Alessandro Scarlatti, Pergolesi, Domenico Cimarosa, Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti. The historical museum has a display of rare antique musical instruments.

Visit the Art Monastery

The Art Monastery Project, founded in 2007, is a community of artists dedicated to fostering creativity through commitment to a disciplined, contemplative, and sustainable monastic lifestyle.

Established by American, San Francisco-based artists Betsy McCall and Christopher Fülling, the project works to transform an historic Italian monastery into an international arts production center. The project investigates what the Art Monks refer to as “social sculpture,” developing a diverse variety of visual and performance art in a manner which focuses just as much on the creative process as the final product.

In striving to meld historical tradition with contemporary culture, the Art Monastery presents on-site exhibitions and performances as well as collaborations with the surrounding communities. However, work created within the monastery premieres locally before ever touring internationally.

Previously located in the small Italian town of Calvi dell’Umbria, the Art Monastery relocated to the hilltop town of Labro, approximately seventy minutes north east of Rome. The San Antonio monastery, a former 17^th century Franciscan abbey, now serves as the official home of the Art Monastery Project. The site holds a state-of-the-art 150 seat theater for performances and exhibits. Hotel Colle di Costa and Ristorante Ulisse are also located within the structure.

In addition to Labro, the Art Monastery hosts chapters in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Reno, Bloomington, Chicago, Buffalo, and New York City.

Incantato presents the San Marino Chamber Choir at Saint Peter's Basilica (Vatican) on Saturday, April 9 at 5:00 PM

The San Marino Chamber Choir will sing High Mass at Saint Peter's Basilica in Vatican City at 5:00PM on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

The Papal Basilica of Saint Peter is located within the Vatican City. St. Peter's Basilica has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world, holding 60,000 people. It is the symbolic "Mother church" of the Catholic Church and is regarded as one of the holiest Christian sites. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".
In Catholic tradition, it is the burial site of its namesake Saint Peter, who was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and, according to tradition, first Bishop of Rome and therefore first in the line of the papal succession. Tradition and some historical evidence hold that Saint Peter's tomb is directly below the altar of the basilica. For this reason, many Popes have been interred at St Peter's since the Early Christian period. There has been a church on this site since the 4th century. Construction of the present basilica, over the old Constantinian basilica, began on April 18, 1506 and was completed on November 18, 1626.
St. Peter's is famous as a place of pilgrimage, for its liturgical functions and for its historical associations. It is associated with the papacy, with the Counter-reformation and with numerous artists, most significantly Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-1564), an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer. Michelangelo took over a building site at which four piers, enormous beyond any constructed since the days of Ancient Rome, were rising behind the remaining nave of the old basilica. He also inherited the numerous schemes designed and redesigned by some of the greatest architectural and engineering brains of the 16th century.
Incidentally there are over 100 tombs within St. Peter's Basilica, many located in the Vatican grotto, beneath the Basilica. These include 91 popes, St. Ignatius of Antioch, Holy Roman Emperor Otto II, and the composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. Exiled Catholic British royalty James Francis Edward Stuart and his two sons, Charles Edward Stuart and Henry Benedict Stuart, are buried here, having been granted asylum by Pope Clement XI. The most recent interment was Pope John Paul II, on April 8, 2005.

Full house expected for the San Marino Chamber Choir's highlight performance at the Petit Palau in Barcelona on Sunday

The Palau is Barcelona's prime concert venue and it is also the location for the San Marino Chamber Choir's finale performance of their 2010 Spain Incantato Performance Tour. On April 11 at noon, the singers from California are presenting a highlight concert at the newest concert hall, the Petit Palau. Prior to their arrival in Barcelona, the singers from San Marino have performed in Madrid, Toledo, Cuena and as the featured guest choir at the Encuentro Cuidad the Torrevieja, a renowned choral festival in a small village south of Valencia.
Incantato Concerts expects a full house and many dignitaries in the audience, including special delegations from the Chinese Consulate, the Taiwanese trade organization, the US-Expat community, the Jewish community and fellow singers from various Catalan conservatories and schools.

Hernández Mateo anuncia que los cinco continentes estarán en el próximo Certamen de Habaneras

En el salón de plenos del Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja no se oyeron ayer las habituales discusiones entre los concejales. Este espacio del Consistorio se convirtió una prolongación de los escenarios donde tiene lugar el 24 Encuentro Coral Internacional 'Ciudad de Torrevieja'. Allí el alcalde de la ciudad, Pedro Hernández Mateo, acompañado por el edil de Cultura, Eduardo Dolón Sánchez así como por los responsables de la Coral Francisco Vallejos, organizadora del evento, recibió a la totalidad de directores de los cinco coros participantes en esta edición de la importante convocatoria de música vocal, así como a un gran número de los ciento cincuenta coralistas que se dan cita en la ciudad hasta el próximo domingo, cuanto tendrá lugar el concierto de clausura.

El primer edil ofreció una bienvenida a los internacionales coralistas, pronunciando unas palabras en las que incidió en lo que tiene este encuentro de «promoción de un mensaje de amor y amistad desde Torrevieja». El regidor también se refirió a la «joya cultural» de la ciudad, como es el Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía, e incluso se atrevió a desvelar que «si las gestiones siguen por el buen camino que llevan, en la próxima edición, la del 55 certamen, tendremos en Torrevieja coros de los cinco continentes».

En concreto, de la habanera, dijo Hernández Mateo, que «es el canto de cuna de los torrevejenses, que la cantan en todos los momentos importantes de su vida». Uno a uno, los directores y responsables de los coros de Madrid, Valencia, Italia, Austria, Suecia y Estados Unidos, dieron muestras de su gratitud por la «gran acogida que hemos tenido en Torrevieja». Algunos incluso se refirieron a la gran labor de intercambio que se produce, como en el caso de Mónica Perales, directora del Coro A Cau d'orella, quien manifestó que gracias a la asistencia a un encuentro coral de Torrevieja en el año 2007, logró viajar a Italia, por medio de la relación de amistad con el director italiano, Fabricio Carchi, quien anoche dirigió al Coro Femenino Eos de Roma en el concierto celebrado en el Teatro Auditorio Municipal.

La recepción convirtió finalmente el salón de plenos en un auditorio improvisado, donde el coro italiano y el coro San Marino Chamber Singers de California, que también intervino en el concierto de anoche, ofrecieron dos interpretaciones. Precisamente el coro americano lo hizo con la preciosa habanera 'A Tu Lado', de Javier Busto, y letra del poeta torrevejense, Matías Antón.

El concierto de anoche lo completó la actuación del grupo Brikcius Ensemble de Madrid.

El programa de hoy de el encuentro, comienza a las once de la mañana en el Palacio de la Música con el noveno Foro Coral. A las seis de la tarde en el Centro Comercial Habaneras se llevará a cabo un concierto a cargo de la coral anfitriona, la Francisco Vallejos de Torrevieja. Por la noche, a partir de las nueve en el Teatro Auditorio Municipal intervendrán coros de Austria, Suecia y Valencia.

Torrevieja acoge XXIV Encuentro Coral Internacional "Ciudad de Torrevieja" en el Teatro-Auditorio Municipal de Torrevieja, hasta mañana domingo 11 de abril. El concierto de apertura correspondió en la noche del jueves a la Coral "Francisco Vallejos", como coral anfitriona, así como la actuación de su Coro Juvenil, creado el pasado año. Ayer viernes, 9 de abril, actuará la Brikcius Ensemble de Madrid, el Coro Femenino Eos de Roma (Italia) y The San Marino Chamber Choir de California (EE.UU.). Hoy sábado lo harán Ois Voice! de Graz (Austria), el Coro Vocado de Örebro (Suecia) y el Cor de Dones "A Cau d'Orella" de Valencia a las nueve de la noche. Y mañana tendrá lugar el concierto de clausura con la participación de todos los coros participantes, cerrando con un canto común.
Las entradas tienen un precio simbólico de dos euros y pueden ser adquiridas en el Patronato de Habaneras y en la taquilla del Teatro.

El alcalde de Torrevieja y presidente del Patronato Municipal del Certamen de Habaneras y Polifonía, Pedro Hernández Mateo, acompañado por el concejal de Cultura y Fiestas y vicepresidente del Patronato, Eduardo Dolón Sánchez, junto con el Presidente de la Coral Torrevejense Francisco Vallejos, Gabriel Samper Hernández y el director de la misma, Aníbal Cano Pettersen, han recibido en el Salón de Plenos a las corales participantes en la XXIV edición del Encuentro Coral Internacional “Ciudad de Torrevieja”, quien ha brindado una calorosa bienvenida a todos los coralistas que se han desplazado a nuestra ciudad con este motivo, del mismo modo que les ha deseado una feliz estancia.
A la recepción han asistido las corales Brikcius Ensemble de Madrid, el Coro Femenino Eos de Roma (Italia), The San Marino Chamber Choir de California (EE.UU.), el Coro Vocado de Örebro (Suecia) y el Cor de Dones “A Cau d’Orella” de Valencia.

El concierto de apertura correspondió en la noche de ayer a la Coral “Francisco Vallejos”, como coral anfitriona, así como la actuación de su Coro Juvenil que creado el pasado año.

En concreto han sido el Coro Femenino Eos de Roma (Italia) y The San Marino Chamber Choir de California (EE.UU.), quien ha interpretado la conocida habanera “A tu lado”, de Javier Busto y Matías Antón Mena.
